Inflation Becoming a Major Problem in 2022

As quarter 1 of 2022 comes to a close, inflation is becoming a major factor and will have a profound effect on our economy.  So far this year we have seen increases on fuel, plastics, chemicals & more.  Now manufacturers of paper & fiber have announced a large 15+% increase. 

A letter received from Solaris cited the following reasons:

As you well know and may be experiencing first hand, our industry continues to experience significant increases in raw material, labor rates and transportation costs, both domestic and international. Due to this unprecedented inflation, effective May 1, 2022 Solaris Paper AFH will implement a price increase of up to 15%, with some items increasing in excess of 15%. These price increases will include all product categories - bath tissue, jumbo bath tissue, facial tissue, hard wound roll towels, multi-fold towels, center-pull towels, kitchen roll towels and all dispensers in LoCor®, Livi® Ultra Premium, Livi® VPG Select, Livi® VPG branded and private branded programs.

 
Cascade PRO North America issued the following statement:

As we continue to experience inflationary pressures on raw materials and production components, energy and distribution costs, further price adjustment has become inevitable. Thus, Cascades PRO will be raising prices up to 12% on hand towels, household towels, bath tissue, facial tissue, napkins and wipers on May 1, 2022. Note that select products and subcategories may be increasing more than 12%. Cascades continues to look at all options to ensure that we can deliver products for the best possible costs to you, our valued customer. We will continue to work on optimizing our portfolio and product specifications.
